Default precision SC61

Sorry my roomate is bugging me for an answer to this. He doesn't know many dsm forums to ask this so anyway I got a buddy that has a 1G eagle talon tsi AWD bored .40 over with JE pistons and crower rods, port and polished head, ferrea valvetrain, and the usual free mods, bolt ons, and a fuel system on the way. Well his super 16g is worn out with mad shaft play and is basically done. He was wondering what turbo to get next to make 500whp+ so I recommended the precision sc61 I know everyone here makes good power with it. He has an adapter plate for a t3/t4 already but he just wants to know if anyone you have heard of has ran this turbo on a dsm with this similar setup and did it make good power. Do you recommend this turbo for his setup? Thanks everyone

id say go for it for sure.
the car will straight up fly
lol
i would tell him to buy that **** asap

a lot of the dsm folk seem to be "Afraid" to run the bigger turbo's.
go for it. id say it would fully spool by 4k rpm(.63 a/r)...look out!

Yeah...what the hell is with that?

All my DSM freinds are bent that the T3/T4 is "too big" and will spool far too slow.

Many of the DSM people out there are in the dark ages when it comes to turbo technology. Most of my freinds will not look past the old school "16G" and realize that there are better choices. I don't understand exactly why, but there is definetly a difference between us Honda guys and the DSM's.

Acutally the DSM have been using the GT35R for a lot longer than us honda guys have been. The GT35R has the same compressor as the SC61. You can also have the a housing that will bolt to his manifold rather than having the T3 ford 5-bolt housing.

ive got a t3/60-1 on my dsm

and like said above they make the housing that will bolt onto the stock manifold so he doesnt have to use the adapter...or SFP makes a really nice t3 manifold for dsms, this is what ive got on mine..

i think you are right in general though...lots of them are just starting to switch over to non mitsu turbos, especially since precision and other companies are now offering newer styles wheels (garrett gt's) with the mitsu exhaust housing so it will bolt up to the stock manifold

most of them are still hung up on low compression, but thats a totally different thread

Your not alone all my DSM friends thinks us Honda guys are nuts for running big turbo I have a little as I like to call it t3t4 I wont a sc61 bad. I'm trying to tell them to step up but they don't wont the turbo lag. Then I try and tell them that you will have a little more turbo lag but you top end will be a lot stronger. I hate riding in their cars and after 5000 it just stops pulling and they still take it up to 7000.

I think he should get it

i think precision makes an SCM61 that bolts up to mitsu manifolds.

mitsu guys are in archaic ages, they like to deal in their 16 18 and frangkenstein G turbos.

the 61 will rock on that car!!!!
