Precision SC50 .48 a/r turbo on a GSR...powerband?
I'm switching over most of my SOHC turbo kit over to a GSR motor eventually, and I'm wondering what the powerband would be like on this setup, with a stock GSR motor.
The setup is:
- Revhard tubular manifold, ceramic coated
- Precision SC50 .48 a/r turbo (basically a T3/T04e 50-trim, with a .48 a/r exhaust wheel and ported housing)
- 3" downpipe, cat, & KTeller exhaust
- 2.5" cold-side, 2" hot-side IC piping
- Greddy Type-S BOV
- DRAG III FMIC
- Crome Pro & RC 550's
Any tips on how to get the most out of this setup? I am wondering, will this turbo make power to the GSR's redline, even with the .48 a/r exhaust housing?
I know a lot of people are going to say "go with the .63 a/r exhaust housing for a GSR motor", but I like the quick spool of this turbo, and I want to see how far I can take it.
Anyone who's actually RUNNING a T3/T04e 50-trim or Precision SC50 .48 a/r, post up your experiences with it

Either way it will be slow, Fnan
How high are you planning to rev this best? Do you have a compressor map for it?
It's been "rated" to about 400-450 hp (maybe that was the .63 ar). I think you'll be just fine for street driving. Your 3" DP and exhaust will help free things up.

Bump, because I'm considering running this turbo on my next setup, but probably with a .63 a/r

I have the same turbo with .48a/r on my D16 and rev to 8000rpm. Turbo doesn't seem to choke at all.

Alot of people seem to think the .48A/R will die off really bad at high rpm, but it really doesn't.

I don't run a GSR (as you know), but I'm sure it'll spool fast and have great midrange power. A .63 would be better for top-end power but IMO the .48 will be just fine.

The .63 will support more topend power but spool slower. You'll be fine with a stock gsr and the .48ar. It will prolly lightup the tires like crazy - you'll love it.

I have a built/sleeved 1.9l b18c5 w/ .48 exhaust side t3/t4 and at 19 psi it pulled 331whp on a mustang dyno @8000rpm (closer to 400 on dynojet). full boost before 4k and YES it does light up the tires like no other. Hope this helps.
