Power differences in DP flare locations? help me out
I need to flare my DP to 3", but it seems to be a major pain in the *** after the AC compressor making all those bends. How much power would i lose if i waited to flare it out at the test pipe? (cat location).

Re: (DaX)
Yeah i wish i could do that but i want to keep the AC. i would do the flare right after that, but its a pain in the *** to do the bends, and if there isnt much loss in power by doing it my way, then thats what im gonna do.

I'd just do it as close to the source as possible while staying somehere you feel comfortable.
Yeah, I run a welded sidewinder too, so I love that AC compatibility with 3" DP!

Your intuition is right.

Re: (RyanCivic2000)
although i'm not running ac, so my compressor is placed on the drivers side, im going to have it flare directly off of the flange, from 3 (or however big of a pipe i can fit on the flange) to 3.5"

Re: (wantboost)
So no one knows a rough estimate how much power i may lose. I guess you could just say... VERY LITTLE, or MODERATE. Would i notice it on the butt dyno?

when it comes to turbo exhaust, delta P makes power, another words you want the highest pressure differential between the turbine inlet and outlet that is possible. Ideally the exhaust tubing diameter should remain the same from turbine outlet to the muffler tip. Since you are dealing with a less than ideal situation, it would take some testing to find out which flare location would provide the highest delta P. I would think that the closer to the turbine outlet, the better; this should give you the most amount of larger diameter piping possible and therefore the least amount of backpressure.
