Default Possible Boost leak ?

My buddy says my car is very slow to spool up to full boost. He says i might have a leak somewhere in my pipes. However greddy says i should be seeing 5.5psi and my gauge says exactly 5.5psi and stays pegged there until redline. I spool up at 4k but i'm running open downpipe at the moment so thats why i'm spooling up so quickly.

So can i have a boost leak yet still see the full 5.5 psi ?

Dam thats a long time for the 15g to spool up huh? I have a 18g and I hit full boost at 3500rpms and thats at 8psi. If it holds steady then you don't have a leak. Runnin open dp should actually make you spool up a little quicker. you are using the 15g right

yup, using the 15g. i'm not sure why my full boost comes in at 4k. I have 2.5 inch piping to throttle body but the rest is about 2 inch except for one bend from the 1g dsm intercooler. it's a autozone 90 degree shitty *** crush bend

You could build a boost leak detector, the cheap way, if you want to make sure you have no major pipe leaks..

Get a peice of short PVC pipe the same inlet diameter as your turbos intake, buy a cap that fits over the short peice of pvc pipe, buy a threaded barb, drill a hole, and install the barb in the pvc cap, glue the cap to the peice of pipe, and use a coupler between the turbo inlet and the pvc "boost leak detector"

use an air compressor blower attachment, with a peice of hose going to the threaded barb, and pressurise the system and listen for leaks.

Costs about 5-10 bucks in parts... and works!
