I think it's becuz i'm running rich, but i'm not really sure....any thoughts?

When you get a poping sound when either you shift or let go of the gas pedal, its because your running way rich. The unburnt gas flows down and get ignited causing combustion which is the poping sound.

 

since my downpipe cracked I have had two such loud pops, under full boost shifting into third... when I let off the gas I heard a pop... and later in another short race with degradated.. had another pop going into third when i let off the gas to shift....

I hear some popping when shifting normally sometimes, depending on the weather/temperature and how I'm driving... (boost or partial boost)

 

it must be cause you are rich. cause i am poor and my car doesn't make any funny sounds.
