Default PLX Install

Just curious I might be ordering a plx unit for my civic and if i want to use it as a standalone just to monitor a/f ratios, do I need to weld in another o2 bung or still replace my stock primary o2 with the new one? I currently run hondata but I dont tune my car so i dont need to datalog only my tuner does that but i also need to switch back to obd2 for when i go to emissions. Which will be easier method?

if your hondata is setup to run in open loop, you can ues it in place if your o2 sensor. or, you can use the narrow band output on the plx and wire that to the o2 input on your ecu and use it that way, but if you dont want to do anything like that, you will need to put another bung in.

i did forget, if you are in open loop and decide to use the plx in place if the factory o2, you will need to complete the circuit for the o2 heater, you can either leave the o2 plugged in, or solder a resistor inline, i dont know the value of the resistor you need though.

I just put my plx in, I'm glad I did. Found out my stock exhaust is really restrictive, giving me 10.5:1 AF's while WOT. It wouldn't be that bad - except its not boosted yet! I'm using uberdata for 450's (780's in a few days), just clicked the 'o2 heater disable'.

I think I've seen the resistor value before, you'll have to dig though. Best bet is to let the stock o2 drag on the ground.

on a side note.. and im not sure if this is 100% but the PLX 02 sensor was a different size bung then the bosch one i had on my car.. so i ended up using 2 bungs anyhow...

Was the bosch different than the stock one? I have the PLX M-300 and it fits right into the stock bung on the manifold, as well as the bung on my DSM turbo.

to add, if you want to use the narrowband output of the unit (feeding into ECU), then the resistors to be soldered inline are usually included.

did you guys used the kinda resistor that came with it... I fucked mine while trying to solder them and I lost the second one ( those pieces are so tiny and fragile ) anyway the PLX WB seems to work great without them too.

The only thing I noticed is that the reading display really fast... is there any way to adjust that in the AME EMS ?

well, those resistors are used when you're feeding the output of the WB unit to ECUs..

there isn't any way to adjust the update rate of the display unit.. but if you're logging/analyzing the output of the WB unit, you can always turn the sampling rate down right?

so, what do you think, XX Boosted Si XX?

after running the unit?
don't worry about the word "LEAN" PLX is just being nice to help you interpret the numbers and display something useful.

no problem

btw, i ended up just welding a new bung in, since the other one was too close to the turbo.. it was really easy. from start to finish, it took me about 2 hours to install the plx..
