Default Please help...which oil pan should I run? (pics inside)

Hi All:

I'm about to put the oil pan on my built D16A1/ZC engine and I have two choices:
The D16A6 oil pan from the 88-91 CRX Si
The D16A1 oil pan from the 86-89 Integra (the oilpan that came on this block)

Pics:

I want to use the D16A6 oil pan mainly because it offers me about 2" of additional ground clearance. The pans appear to have roughly the same overall oil capacity.

D16A6 pan
+ "Shorter" pan offers increased ground clearance
+ Bottom of the pan is flat making it easy to work with the engine while it is on the ground
- The oil pickup area looks kind of restrictive to me. (??)

D16A1 pan
+ The oil pickup area looks very open
- Pan is "tall" and restricts my ground clearance
- Bottom of the pan is angled making it very annoying to work on this engine while it's on the ground. It always wants to tip over.

If you vote, please give me your reasons why.

Thanks

Sonny

The CRX pan is not "more restrictive", it just has better baffles for better control of the oil under accelartion, etc.. I'd use the CRX pan, and oil pickup tube if it is different from the A1.

What kind of oil pump pickup do you have on the motor? CRX on integra? use whatever pump pickup you have.

I would also worry about DP clearance...if its too deep, you'll need ;onger piping to clear the pan..

I would go with the A6 pan. It looks identicle to my JDM ZC pan only with less clearance for the DP.

It appears to be the best one to use.
