Please help with low throttle hesitation!
I will be getting dyno tuned in about 2 weeks. I am having problems with hesitation/surging at very low throttle. On the highway cruising at like 65MPH at 3800RPM I require very little throttle. I get occasionaly blips and surges from the engine if i move the throttle every so slightly. When running higher throttle she is very smooth. I don't have anything near the power I would expect from my tubo yet (no wheel spinning power for sure) but I attribute that to not having the hondata and 440 injectors tuned up!
Anyone experience this? I have my fuel pressure now at 50psi static. it was at 60 but i think my initial chip was actually burned for near stock pressures. I do have a new Walbro coming in a day or so to ensure i have enough fuel for higher boost pressures later.
thanks!

dont know hondata very well, does it or did you smoth out the map for tps, if you have cells next to each other that are very different like 20 and 22 % TP have totally different fuel pulse width that may be it. other wise, chunky injector, to rich, lumpy cam

Hey Dirty, are you saying that hondata comes with preprogrammed maps for these cars? wow, so all you have to do is minor +/- on every map??
I am happy with my DFi but if i new this was around years ago I would have considered it. I had to start from scratch, do you know how hard it is to gues the cranking fuel??, i kept flooding my motor trying to start it, after that it was a breeze

The Hondata 2b isn't even programmable by the user. You have to get someone with a Stage 4b and a chip burner to program it for you.
Hondata has a bunch of base maps. They try to give you the closest maps they have, but it's never going to be perfect. People with really odd setups, like custom heads and odd CR's are going to have a problem. Still, it's a good starting point.
I didn't really have all that much difficulty creating a street tune for my E6K from scratch using just the standard O2 sensor. It was good enough for me to drive around town for about a month. I think I'll be getting a EUGO wideband sometime in the next couple months. They're getting cheaper now. Depends if I can sneak the money past my Wife, but I should be able to save some money, rather than renting dyno and wideband from DPE everytime I want to change the tuneing.

DirtyLude...
new baby? Forget the O2 sensor!
I will chalk this all up to not having it tuned yet. I have a 3B without datalogging. If i can save for a good cheap laptop i may update to a stage 4B and get a burner but i can't see changing too much without doing more mods and having to Dyno in the forseeable future!
I just want to make sure there was nothing I was missing before getting to the Dyno and not having thought of something simple.
thanks

you can get a base map for your car when you get your new Hondata. Its very basic apparently. I must be way off though since I have so little power compared to what others are describing with their turbos!

please let us know the outcome after u get it tuned.. I am anxious to see your numbers since you have a very nice set up. Does somebody think u need a 3" thermal and downpipe? hehe

I have a 3" thermal. Its going on this weekend. I have someone making a custom ball joint for flex protection. The downpipe is only 2.25 and a 3" dp would be too difficult to make for a Fmax system.

I've got hondata on my car and i've never had any problems like what you're describing. Where did you get your initial map from?
My guess is that it could have something to do with the tip-in enrichment, but I really don't know. It's also possible that the timing is wacky, but that wouldn't be too likely.
