Please Help>>> How do I stop it???
Hey Guys,
I'm new here. I'm running a B20/Vtech with a 100 shot of juice in my crx. I "backfired through the intake" they say, and it melted my map sensor blew my intake rubber fitting right off the throttle body. So I was just wondering if any one knew how I can avoid this? I have a JG Edelbrock intake manifold, injectors, Hondata ECU, stock throttle body, and a 100 shot wet nx. Please any suggestions?
Thanks...

Are you sure about that lower rpm part?

Hey guys,
Thanks for the replies. I have the nitrous set up to a toggle switch to engage and a full throttle microswitch to release the nitrous. At the track I come out of the lights on nitrous so in other words on nitrous right off the line. I backfired on the street. I accelerated in first off the nitrous, shifted to second and with the throttle at full position I engaged it releasing nitrous because I am at full throttle. It pulled hard until 7500-8000 rpm when it popped. I thought there she went!!! It idled like it was a V Twin Harley. It still had spark and compression so I guess it still had a weak pulse LOL. The last time it happened it was the map and sure enough it was the map again. This only happens on the street. No problems at the track.
Thanks

A nitrous backfire at high rpm's is a pretty rare thing usually caused by hitting the rev-limiter, which i'd assume isn't the case here. A slightly burnt/bent exhaust valve could cause this or really screwed up valvetrain timing. Its not too uncommon to pop and fart out the exhasut with overly rich/lean combos, but to puke out the intake like that is a fairly rare thing indeed.
