Default Planning B18A1 turbo setup..input needed

Its kind of lengthy but I'd appreciate all the help you could give..

I have a 90 LS thats almost received a full tuneup. When my oem HG and Tbelt are in and installed I'm going to do a compression and leakdown test to get a better idea if I should even be attempting this..

I've got about 1400 to spend. Take some off if there are more complications with my car.

I have the book maximum boost and have read through it and its a lot for me to understand. I'm more of a hands on kind of guy..but with no chance to experience working on a turbo my knowledge is limited.

My goals are realistic. I'd like a 13.99, while being reliable. I have no plans as of yet for any work done to the motor.

I'm not looking to boost an extreme amount, and I'd like to spend as little as possible obviously..but I want it to be reliable for the low amount of psi I plan on pushing.

Minus a cheapo intake, its a bone stock engine.

I can get a BOV for cheap, and a hondata s100 for about a 100 bucks. 450 injectors would be fine I think..and that can be had for 50 bucks anywhere.

A fuel pump which I can just pick up on here

A buddy of mine is selling his TD04-16G from his SRT-4..I'm sure I can get it for relatively cheap if I can find a manifold to fit it onto. If I cant get that..I'd need another turbo..but I dont really know much about them..I'd be willing to spend a decent amount of money on this and a manifold so that either dont crap out on me.

I can pick up an intercooler for relatively cheap..even a dsm sidemount for 40 bucks will do..I dont need a big gaudy front mount..although it'd be nice. Piping..I dont even know where to begin on that one.

whats left? a wastegate? i dont know anything about those. tuning..I know of a few people and shops..but I might splurge and get a Jeff Evans tune.

So yeah..I've got 1400 and I'd really, really like If I didnt blow it all. But I dont want a setup that consists of an SSautochrome and a tsudo 50 trim you know?

So any feedback will help me out..I'd like to get the ball rolling on this asap.

When your doing that timing belt and head gasket, save yourself a future headache and get some ARP head studs... they will pay for themeselves in the future.

good luck, although after reading your replies to members it seems that you are on an extremely tight budget.

Not trying to sit and amuse myself of people having tight budgets or anything, dont take this the wrong way. If your on a budget dont turbo, your going to run into lots of problems. If you dont want to blow 100 bucks on head studs.....your going to hate blowing money on problems that you will get from the turbo set up.

i know i have a limited budget, and i, like everyone else is trying to get the best bang for their buck.

I'm willing to blow all of it for a good setup

Very difficult to do on that budget. Save up a little over 3K and piece together a kit yourself. I wouldnt waste my time/money to mickey mouse a kit. Just my opinion. By trying to save money it might actually cost you more in the end. Do it right the first time around, or youre gonna be replacing the weak links in your setup.

I spent around 1800-2000$ for my setup.. and everything was used except the parts listed later. A lot of that came from the downpipe, tuning and exhaust though. Custom 3" tig welded downpipe $300, 3"exhaust+muffler+welded up= $400, 2-300$ on tuning. So it's possbible.. just gotta find the deals.

I probably overlooked some stuff, but if you want to see my setup, it's all listed here: http://www.cincinnatistreetrac...D=327

Seems you have to be a user to look at that so I'll try to copy and paste it.
