B16b Turbo setup
Hey i was just wondering what you guys think it would take to get 300whp out of a stock B16b engine. Looking for something to start building boost around 4500-5000 and hold power to redline. I know the whole high compression = bad for boost thing, but low boost with high compression is fine for me.
I was thinking to start
-ram-horn mani
-8" JRC intercooler
-Tial BOV and WG
-3" turbo back exhaust
-2.5" charge piping
-hondata or Neptune
-550cc injectors
-walboro fuel pump
-stage 3 clutchmasters clutch with 10lb flywheel
-misc things (clamps etc)
The one thing im not sure on is what turbo to run.
LMK what u think

"ram-horn mani"...first time i ever heard that term...you mean the equal length beautiful ones correct?...seems like you got your stuff down pretty good...parts are quality...ill be kinda worried bout boostin on high compression though, expecially when its not a cheap motor

low boost and 300whp some might tell you to check out the GT series turbos... Im leaning towards one but Im soooo ****, Im having a large amount of people look at my final build before i buy anything.

Re: B16b Turbo setup (cmGSR916)
yeah the higher compression worries me but its gonna be properly tuned and everything. I might suggest to my buddy to get ike 9:1 low compression forged pistons and some forged rods and the engine would be mint i think.
As for the Ram-Horn. i believe that was the original name and then people started thinking that they were true equal length mani's and they became know as EL mani's.
I think 300whp is attainable but gonna need a good tune. Anyone thinkin its reachable on like 8-10psi? I was thinking along the lines of a T3 Super 60 turbo but i think it would choke before redline. Maybe a GT28RS ?

so far the only turbo suggested is the GT28RS, its a wicked turbo but its also kinda pricey. Maybe a GT3251E or any other suggestions.
Whats the limit on a stock B16b for power u guys think?

High compression + boost = overrated
How about an SC50, it'll be spooling right around 4000 and make lots of power.

i did a few searches and i think 300whp is reasonable leaving the engine stock. Above that definitely get lower compression pistons, forged rods and maybe think about an ITR crank.

Because he buys into the banter on here that a high compression setup will be way more responsive, make a lot more power off boost, spool the turbo quicker, and make a lot more power per pound of boost than a low comp motor.

ideally id like to see the car taken to Jeff at Evans Tuning to get tuned with Neptune etc but there is a few issues like towing fees and such. Maybe ill convince him to come up here.

TO to Jeff's place is only about 700 KM's. If you ran with the wastegate removed and slapped a cheap little dump tube on there so that it doesn't make any boost that's a solid day's worth of driving, get to Boosted Hybrid's place bright and early the next morning, get it tuned, and boost it home intime for a late supper!

Why isn't the owner allowed to cross borders?
Even so, you can tow a civic behind almost anything. ****, we towed a full weight DC2 behind a friends stock 93 Explorer with a 4.0, it doesn't take much to tow it.

Im gonna look into towing it down there for him and having jeff tune it cause i dont really trust the tuners up here with a 5K engine turbo'ed.

Ah, I thought it might have been some kind of a record or what have you I'd still rather take my chances getting stopped at the border towing it or driving it than having it shiped. Shipping it to Evans' and back will run you atleast 1000-1500 dollars, and that's always a pain in the *** to organize. If you want to get a company take it down there and drop it off, and be there later that day or the next day to pick it up it'll cost even more, like to the tune of 2000+ dollars. What about Tapp Auto, they've tuned some fast hondas?
