That seems a bit expensive. Camp 1320 has the rods for under $300, and those pistons are bout $330. I'd shop around.

Thats opening a can of worms, but I run cometic. I don't have problems with them. Some will say only use stock or golden eagle. Any will work for you.

you need to make sure you are getting the correct rods and pistons for the ls motor. that ebay ad lists multiple numbers for different compression and bore. you would want to go at least .25mm to .5mm over stock and something in the range of 9.0:1 - 9.5:1 compression for boost. and part# CRS5394A3D for rods

No, I just talked to Thomas 2 days ago, still selling parts. As a matter of fact I'll be picking up a set of eagles from him next week.

Why does he need to bore it over? Couldn't he just rehone the cylinders and slap a standard size in?

Yes he can rehone and use a standard size, 81mm to be exact. Thats what I did, running fine with no issues for over 6 months now.

sometimes on an older motor std bore pistons will have excessive p2w clearance, usually it just results in piston slap but it can get worse as it goes on. Iv always been told to check to bore... then order the pistons... not the other way around.

He can use standard bore, but be sure the block doesnt need bored..It may look ok to the eye but I would have a machine shop check it before you buy pistons...I normally buy oversized just so the block gets honed to the piston size and im done

i guess ive just always gone with the logic of getting a fresh bore and hone when redoing the bottom end. ive never actually built a bottom end so im no expert by any means.

is there any downside of going 10 or 20 over. besides having slightly thinner sleeves. what if the 81mm pistons were too small after honing?

Honing doesn't take much material out, its just giving you a crosshatch pattern for oil retention and ring seal. He would have to bore it if the cylinders are tapered or out of round, but for a simple low milage setup a hone and stock bore should be fine.
