Piston to wall
I just had my block honed to where the cyc are perfect. the final number is 3.329. its an 84.5 mm bore. If i figured it out right my piston to wall would be .5 . Is that to big for a turbo setup or any setup in general? Am I forced to go to 85mm? Thanks.
Do you mean 5 thousandths of an inch?
If so and they are forged pistons, that could be within specs, check with the manufacturer of the piston and what their recommended piston to wall clearance is...
For a quick check, insert the piston in the bore and slide a feeler guage down beside it...make sure to insert the guage down to the piston skirts, if you measure just the top part of the piston where the ring lands are, it will be a larger dimension...

thanks for the reply yes I ment .005. The thing is I dont have the pistons yet cause im not sure what to order. The machine shop honed the block till it was clean. so then If i reuse a 84.5mm piston it comes out to .005 piston to wall. If it were you would you go to the 85mm or run the looser clearance. The pistons are made by endyn and im looking at about 20lbs of boost. Thanks
Check with the piston manufacturer(or call the shop you are buying them from)They should have the proper piston to wall spec for you so that you can determine if you are going to be within specs, otherwise...an overbore will be necessary.
