Default piston ring clocking

i have a question about this diagram from the old one...it looks good but im questioning the location of the oil expander and #1 compression gap...are they suppose to be in the same spot, like underneath each other? or does the 2nd picture look more correct..thanks

If you have a Hanes manual it is in there. But I think it is the first one because you don't want to line any of them up with your wrist pins.

There you go, you answered your own question. Everything is going to have two sides.

im pretty sure the oil rings are all supposed to have about 15 degrees between them, not 90

I build my engines the way the second one show. never had a problem ever. the oil expander is not as important as far as location is concerned because it doesnt really have a gap.
