It's actually not copper. It's made of something else which I have yet to find out.

 

iv seen that exact problem on an eclipse the other day... the fix? we sanded it the flange on the manifold down tot make it flat... it didnt really look or feel completely flat therefore it was blowing the gaskets... so far it hasnt returned... lets see how it holds up

 

I don't even have any gasket around there, supposedly the carbon will seal the area in between....
no lekas so far...

PS: your WG gasket looks like mine before...

 

Yep.....I'm not running a gasket on the wastegate and it hasn't ever given me any problems...........
