Gaskets and flanges absolutely necessary?
Is it necessary to run the gaskets in addition to the flanges? for example, on the downpipe....in addition to the flange i welded to the downpipe, do i need the gasket as well? for some of my flanges im having a tough time finding gaskets! tia

if they are surfaced areas you shouldnt have a problem with exhaust leaks. if you do and dont have a gasket for that particular flange then go to a auto store and get some gasket material eventhough i think it might burn up.

I hope the area has a surface, otherwise there would be no point.
If the surface is true, then you should be able to get by without a gasket, if it's warped then you'll definatly need one.
I've used the high temp gasket maker before and it works for a short time before burning up.
Now i use no gasket between the wg and manifold
