well what happend was the thrust washers dropped out. Doing so they started eatting into the bearing caps along with the crank. My guess is that the fine shavings worked their way up there leaving very fine scratches on the walls and skirts. There are are very small black score spots on all the pistons but only on one side of each. I dont know let me know what you guys think.
Thanks

not worth it in my opinion...save yourself the hassle of another possible rebuild and get new pistons from the get go...

have you pulled your crank? if all those shavings got up there they probably worked themselfes elswhere as well.
Personally I would re-use those pistons. The skirt doesn't seem to be scratched to badly, but then again I can't see all that much in your pics.

Its hard to see your pics, but if its just surface scratching on the piston skirt then yes you can reuse them. Just remove any burrs with a fine grit sandpaper. It all depends on the condition though really.
If any particles worked their way into the ringlands then they are useless.
For piece of mind though, just replace them.

hey guys i talked to the peopel who are gonna resleeve my engine. I had them look at those pistons and they said that you should never bead blast JE ect. pistons due to a coating that is put on there. They said bead blasting would take it off and thats not good. Are they blowing smoke up my *** or what?
