Default People with NO filter, do you drive in the rain/snow?

Just like the title says. I'm open turbo with no filter (doesn't fit, need to dremel the block, then it MIGHT). Do you guys drive in the rain/snow? I'm afraid of water coming up from the tires and going into the turbo.

It's doubtful you'll have a problem because by the time it goes all through the charge pipes and whatnot it will probably vaporize. The only way you could do any real damage is to suck up a significant quantity which isn't likely (unless the turbo was immersed). I wouldn't worry, but I'd get a filter asap anyways, or else all the sand (where I am anyway) that they keep putting around will = good by turbo!

Good luck~!

Thanks Johny

I was more afraid of the turbo getting damaged, rather than the motor. It spins at such a high velocity, i'm afraid I'll chip a fin or something. Maybe that's just stupid

You can do what I did... cut up an old "black" T-shirt and cover it over a mesh-like style "filter"onto the compressor. Use adjustable clamps to hold it in place. Captures most of the dirt trapped in engine bay.

All the time. It will vaporize by the time it reaches the intake anyway unless you use your car as a boat

I would be more worried about a piece of sand or a rock chipping you compressor wheel, it happened to me

I hope you realize that when you are under boost, you are sandblasting your engine.
