Payn Technologies/Vortech install
A few days before Xmas. The alarm system was rendered useless because the first thing they did was cut the phone lines, and they did NOT have radio backup(they do now).
I'ts not like Tom's tuning would cause your number 3 cylinder to lose compression.
When you re-do the test, make sure you take the car for a hard run first, to make sure your oil temps are up to normal (this might take over 10 minutes of driving)
Then make sure you disconnect your injector clips to make sure you aren't dumping fuel during the compression test.
then make sure the throttle is wot (which you already know)
then, make absolutely certain that you have a proper seal on each spark plug hole and that #3 isn't leaking during the test. I use a data acquisition system with pressure transducers to do my test (a little better than your ordinary $5 gauge that comes with a tester)
And finally, make sure that you use the same exact number of crank revolutions for each cylinder test.
good luck with it.

Maybe you guys should start a tread on how you feel bad for him. As for this guy with his problems I feel from what I read here and some personal dealings with payne that he was done wrong. Tom may be nice to talk to but as far as how he trys to make money off of others is just crook.

Just bringing everyone up to date on the latest. It's spring and time to get the car out of storage with a brand new supercharger installed. I call Tom at Payn to arrange getting my car fixed and re-tuned. I leave several phone messages with no return call. I finally get a hold of him via e-mail and he tells me he's selling the business and no is there, he just tunes cars on Saturdays. We arrange to bring the car up on Sat. the 7th, so I decide to adjust the valves before hand, since the engine has to be cold. After the valve adjustment I do a compression check and find that cylinder #3 is 175 psi and the rest are 205 psi. The factory service manual says no more than 28 psi variance. I then to a leak down test, and cylinder #3 has 16% loss and the rest only 8%. I once again have oil in the air filter and oil smell coming thru the vents like I did originally. I did verify that cyl. #3 was not an intake or an exhaust valve, but something in the cylinder. So all along their was nothing wrong with the supercharger like he said. I tell Tom all this information to see what he plans to do to fix this, since it was his guys that left the shop towel in the aftercooler, and he replies you need to put the car back to stock and sell it. So once again he doesn't stand behind his work, and I'm stuck with a fucked-up engine. No wonder he's no longer in business!
