Default Need new Ring Lands...

Hey guys, just to clarify what ring lands are... is it the ring that looks cracked or the one below it??....I recently had problems with my engine and Im bringing it in to SpoolinPerformance to get it checked out... but if it is damanged ringlands...does it mean I have to replace all my pistons too?

What brand of Ringlands do you guys suggest? thankx

PHOTOBELOW is not my piston....just a pic i pulled from Goodle so I can use it as a reference..

ringlands are a part of the piston. They are what the rings set in. When they let go, the rings no longer seal or hold compression. That is why you have to replace the piston. In most cases, if only one piston suffered damage, you could just replace it, but ususally the damage was inflicted to all of them and they all need to be replaced.

And that is your ring land that is cracked. You will need new pistons, and the cracked ring land probably scored your cylinder wall, so you will need to get the block bored and honed.

Why are the skirts of the piston not aligned with the hole for the wrist pin? I don't think I've ever seen a piston like that.....

if the ringlands are cracked on the pistons, then you need new pistons... no such thing as replacing ringlands.

LoL... Why did I think they were the other way?

That piston just looks funny for some reason. I guess it's not because of the wrist pin.
