passing emission in NY
hey whats up guys im a emmisions inspector in CT
the way it works over here and should be the same everywhere else is this pre obd2 vehicles must run on the dyno and use a tail pipe sniffer.
all wheel drive vehicles pre obd2 would run on a two step idle test which is no dyno but still tail pipe sniffer but it wont look for NOx do to no load,
now obd2 people you are in luck if you have a oem ecu ,which can be reflashed or chipped if there is no check engine light on then you will pass hte inspection, and no you cant just pull out the light bulb cause on obd2 car we conect the emmisions machine to your cars dlc and it communicate with your cars ecu and determines how the emmisions compnents are work and if there are any codes in the system, if your try to just switch over to a STOCk ecu than you beter drive the car through its ccles cause the ecu has a memory and if wen its time to hook it up to the machine and it show the monitors arent ready for commuincation then you go into a back up dyno test then your **** if you aint runnin clean.
o yeah we do a visual inspection of cats too if there aint one you fail.
hope thats enough info on the subject back to GT4

Depends where you live in NY $100 still goes a long way in some parts. And OBD1 does get a sniff. I think most inspections stations don't have the OBD 2 hook up yet. But there is a date by when shops have to get them. I hooked my car up to a van idling and the van failed the emissions..............But that is just my luck.
guys the only way out of this is to use someone elses car that looks like yours thats also OBD2 but stock ... the inspector will have to scan your registration tho.
Im still a bit confuse...I live in GA, when they hooked up to my ecu on my 98 teg, it sounded like a 56k modem trying to connect to the internet. So is the emission center connected to a outside server somewhere? Where they store the car permenant information somewhere about emissions?
Please tell me im wrong?
Is there another way around passing OBD 2 system without jacking it into the ecu or switching car , etc etc?
Must know! Because im boosting early next month

you guys in Ny are screwed!
you guys in Ny are screwed!
to the guy saying to switch cars that look like yours is a dumb *** cause as an inspector we are suppose to verify the vin on the car with e vin on the registation!
yes we do scan the regy but most the times i scan the vin of the car itself , caus eits right next to the cars gvwr
to the other guy yes the emmisions machine is hooked up to the dmv database we comunicate with dmv wen we are doin a test, there are cameras watching us do the test too so they can watch in wenever they please, everything is store in the dmv database along with our machine.
to the guy boosting you wont have to worry about anything as long as you dont have any codes existing in your ecu monitors
dont be scared just be legit

the inspector is one of my best friends... i would not pass without him. he knew exactly how to get me a sticker. would he do this for other people.. probably not, unless they are his friends. SO all i need is a stock silver integra, he hooks it up on the dyno, scans MY registration, and does the rest of the **** on this stock integra , so if the DMV wants to look thru their cameras, they can see, they will think hes working on MY car... i call it the imposter method...im sure other people do this **** too
legit? no. but theres not a chance in hell id get a sticker otherwise cuz i am OBD1 when im supposed to be OBD2. im not about to go back , too much hassle.
