Lately my car has been slightly over heating when sitting idle, like sitting at a light. I First thought it may have been a fan issue, but the fan was spinning just fine. Also thought maybe there isn't enough airflow, so I put on a pusher fan along with my puller fan on my fluidyne half sizes rad. Seemed to help slightly, kinda slowing down the speed at which the needle goes up, but not stopping it. So far it hasn't gone more than a little past halfway, since I've been able to start moving again and bring it back down, which it does drop pretty fast once I start moving.
My friend thinks it's a headgasket issue, which it may well be, but I was under the impression that if it was a headgasket, it would start overheating when I start boosting, which it doesn't. I haven't wrapped out all through the gears hitting boost, but I might boost through, 2nd and some of third, not really pushing it super hard, just enough to have a little fun. No heating issue. I'm going to change the oil tonight and see if it's milky or colored funny. So far I haven't noticed any white smoke coming out of the tail pipe either, although my radiator has lost a little coolent, but not enough that I would think it would effect anything. The coolant in the overfill bottle looks fine aswell.
Last thing I can think of is a water pump. The only reason I think it may be the pump is because when I start moving, it starts to cool back down, other than that, I have no reason to suspect the water pump, as I haven't seen any water under the car, although I'm going to be checking more just to be sure. Any advice or anything to check that you guys can think of?
