I have absolutely no rice on my car, the riciest thing I have is a mustand TB, but the other night I was waiting on frost plugs to plop back in the motor (on a stand) and I found a can of silver heat paint - now its friggin shiny as hell and I feel ashamed that my block reflects so much light. Should I leave it on or go over it with blotchy grey to make it look stock again????
If I get any more bored I am going to port out my gigler pins and rotate my muffler bearings again this month.

I too had painted my block with high temp aluminum colored paint and freaked when it came out an almost chrome color. Once it died I rubbed it down with a clean rag and it took some of the shininess away but it was still unnatural looking. But theres nothing to worry about, once the motor is fired up a few times the heat turns the paint into a very nice clean aluminum color. People ask me all the time how i got mine so clean..hehehe
If you want it to look stock, use Aircraft Stripper. Several companies make it, and it basically is a paint and adhesive stripper for aluminum....which happens to work GREAT as a cleaner also!
I was in the same boat, but I painted almost everything: Block, Tranny, Altenator, P/S, Starter, A/C. I used a cast aluminum paint and I too wasn't excited. But like "Quickhonda" said, the chrome-look comes off after you run the car a few times. Actually, the first time I got on the interstate all I saw behind me was a cloud of chrome smoke. In the end you'll actually be glad you did it.
That **** that John is talking about sounds pretty cool too.
