Opinions on boost creep. B16 turbo.
Heres the setup:
Stock B16 w/ T3 .48/.60
Hondata, DSM 450's
Ghetto FMIC.
Deltagate 3-5psi spring
3" DP w/ WG rejoining about 20" down.
Still tuning Hondata using the Fmax9psi base tune.
Had to add lots of fuel on the top end. (plugs initialy showed some white after a WOT run/shutdown )
Now a bit of carbon after WOT runs but nothing major. Getting 34mpg on freeway.
Timing is:
Boost____.5____3.7___7.8___11.8
Timing__28.75_25.75_ 23.75__22.0
I'm getting 5-6psi in 1st and 2nd, and 8-9 at the top of 3rd.
Wastegate signal is plumbed to the compressor outlet.
I was also looking at the Mani as a potention source of this problem.
Bad pic I know. Captured these tonight.
The WG is located centraly in the collector but at a 90 angle.
Thinking that under higher pressures and flow rates, the exh. gas is having a difficult time making the bend.
After reading another post on effects of timing, I will give the timing some adjustments Sat. and see what happens.
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=454167 Great info.
Whats your thoughts on my creep/timing?
TIA,
Dave
PS,
The nasty stuff on the mani is some rust remover not completely cleaned off

Re: Opinions on boost creep. B16 turbo. (leed)
dude the answer is so obvious, its the deltagate. they should name that thing the time to get new pistons gate. 9 out of 10 people have a problem with spike or creep from that thing. do yourself a favor and buy a boost controller or just ditch it and get the tial like everyone else

Re: Opinions on boost creep. B16 turbo. (00si5)
Ended up comparing my timing under boost vs various other Hondata maps. I was running a bit to retarded under boost.
Just by adding in 1.5 degrees, the diff. in boost between 2nd and 3rd went from 6-9 to 6-7.
Im not ready to jump on the 'Tial' band wagon yet.
