Default Is OPEN LOOP in VTEC always... or is it my EEPROM program?

alittle background...

don't ask why, but i have a turbo Z1.. yes a VX.. and i converted to a P28 and im running uberdata... now i have it tunned in the range of 5-7 PSI, but i haven't fiddled with the lower maps.. esspecially in vaccumm. the VTEC is set as low as possible to satisfy the E-VTEC, and on the freeway its really really rich. 10.0 A/F.

so my question.

IN VTEC, does the ECU, programed or not go into open loop reguardless?

today driving on the freeway.. i saw the gas neddle plumit.. untill i pulled over, with the "J1" switch, and baby'ed it out of spool to not throw the MAP. (no boost)

at this time.. on the stock ECU ROM, it ran fine.. 14.2 - 14.9 A/F give or take.

What base map are you running? Someone actually has the VX tables imported to uberdata?

no.. im running my own program.. P28 imported.

besides the point.. my VTEC point is VERY low.. liek 3K, when on the freeway at 3500.. its in VTEC... does this mean in VTEC im always in open loop?

cuz my fuel maps are really off at -10 in. at near 10.0 -1 A/F

open loop... always on under VTEC?

I can't say for the specifics of uberdata. But I bet the P28 high cam fuel map is doing weird thinks at 3kRPM compared to what your VX motor wants. Enough that even in closed loop it probably wouldn't be able to correct to 14.7:1.

As far as I know, closed->open loop is determined soley by TPS in uberdata.

interesting...

well, my thought is... even though im turning the engine over fast.. but still holding the same TPS angle.. just the fact of being in VTEC alone is making me stay in open loop. thats why my wideband is telling me im so rich.

my only other choice is to burn a new chip, wiht a 5K RPM VTEC changeover and see if i stay in closed loop longer on the freeway.

i knew given the right RPM, and over say 40% TPS you were going to be in open loop.. but im wondering if say 10% throttle.. (cruzing) and in VTEC if the ECU is automaticly going to put me in open loop.

again.. i guess i'll have to burn another chip.. with a higher VTEC changeover, and see... im sure this is the answer.. just wondering if anyone came across that problem before.

i wodln't care about gas economy.. but i KNOW im getting alot worse than a Z6 longblock.. only do to the fact im running a 10 - 1 A/F crusing. outside of VTEC, im getting 14.7 A/F.
