That is giving only 1" of area inside for sound deadening material. Or a oval muffler with 3" ID with a 4"x9" area for sound deadening material? Obviously the oval one.
So you're telling us that the information posted by the manufacturer on their website is false? You're using examples of a smaller vs larger muffler. It wouldn't matter if they are both oval or round if one is smaller then the other. Any 3yr old knows that.
YOU SAID THE OVAL IS QUIETER THEN THE ROUND MUFFLER. Not the bigger muffler is quieter then the smaller muffler. Thanks for trying though. Stop trying to act intelligent and just learn something first.

You're grasping at straws now. I'm not sure of your IQ at this point...

Would you like me to find a 3" ID 4" by 4" oval muffler? You should stop while you are still ahead.

No I'm saying use an equal sized round muffler when comparing it to a 4x9 oval muffler.
It cleary states on magnaflows website there is no difference in sound when comparing oval vs. round when both are of equal size. Once again you've never mentioned one smaller then then other. Here is your post below. Thanks for amusing me. I'm done dealing with idiots for the day. Go read something and actually learn a bit for once.

I think you are taking by them saying sound as in loud. Which is not the case, I think they are more along the lines of talking about tone. I could be wrong here but it is common knowledge that the bigger the muffler the quieter it will be. The point in running an oval straight through muffler on a turbo Honda is because of a few reasons...

1) it will fit better and in some peoples' eyes look better
2) keep more of a stock appearance
3) allow a bend inside the muffler which will also help deaden the sound
4) have a physically bigger muffler while still being able to tuck it up against the under side of the car.

With 3" exhaust on a Honda you really start running into problems if you want to run a round muffler and keep it quiet. Especially with people like you that think its cool to ride hella low. You CAN get a bigger casing on a 3" round magnaflow muffler. My truck had this exact muffler with a 7" round casing. But a muffler this size will not work on a Honda without dragging it all over town. So your next best option is running an oval muffler since you can have it be physically bigger without hanging lower. Thus being more quiet.

Don't know how I missed this gem of a post!!

Sure a muffler isn't NEEDED, hell a filter isn't either I guess. But it sure is a good idea! Especially if you don't want your car to sound like this...

[HINT]YOU'RE[/HINT] a stupid street racer if your car doesn't sound like this!

a filter lol nope i do not run that either, but i do run a screen on the inlet of my turbo

now that is not a FI car either its N/A (let me know if i need to expand on the abreviations ok)

that car doesnt need a muff anyways all you will do is keep knocking it off since its what 2" off the ground craziness.

listen a little closer now a forced indcution car (turbo) isnt that loud, and is alot smother than the sounds of that subura/honda you got going on there

I run a muffler and air filter on my turbo'd car; I guess that means I'm a stupid street racer.

You run what you want. But on the street with a turbo car it's a better idea to run both a filter and a muffler. And no that doesn't make you a stupid street racer. It saves you from the title of ricer.

i never said running a muff made you a stupid street racer what i said is its not needed.

differance frm a ricer and a racer is a ricer wants to be noticed, and look good as well with all the pretty little bullshit on the car fat *** wing/ground affects/gay *** neons

racer pretty plain car looks stock and is clean (pride) and kn ows it will gt the job done.

like i told you many times already my turbo's car is qieter than most of the ones running around with a fart can muff on it.

keep twisting my words ill keep throwing back at ya

Yes infact you did say running a muffler made you a stupid *** street racer. Infact your QUOTE is you don't need a muffler unless you are a stupid *** street racer. See below.

Ricer is a shitty exhaust tone that is loud and obnoxious. I've heard a riced out 03 Cobra before too.

My car is not hella low by any means. I'm a firm believer in function over form. I probably have a 1" gap all around. Not hella low at all. I can hit full lock and clear speed bumps.

Run a muffler if you aren't a ricer. It's that simple. Mufflers these days DO NOT cost you power.

Im surprised that no one told you that backpresure is a MYTH. All a exhaust does is direct the flow of the fumes and sound.

Thats not entirely true. Back pressure matters until you enter boost. In the lower RPMS/part throttle the engine still likes scavenging so having an open downpipe or huge exhaust kills any chances of that happening. I have witnessed/experienced this effect in both my cars, one of which had a 3" exhaust with a cutout in the downpipe and the other with a 4" exhaust all the way back.

I've also noticed the 4" exhaust (with 2 small bottle resonators that most likely do nothing) is not as droney as the 3" (probably because sound waves have alot of room to bounce around in the pipe?) even though the 3" had 2 resonators and a vibrant muffler. Its loud, but not droney. Hard to explain.

i honestly cant believe you just said that back pressure is a myth, you better sign up for auto school and learn a little about how an engine actually works. its a large air pump is all it is, when the air is stopped or slowed down it actually creates a vacuum sucking air back up towards the engine which we call back pressure. take a lets say a 00 chevy ls1 and run it straight headers for a couple months and tell me its a myth, that motor will have the most rediculous amount of valve tick you have ever heard.

as for the street race/ricer thing, thats just dumb to classify anybody of that ****. my car is from japan so i call it a riceburner so technically if someone said it was a ricer.... i wouldnt care at all.

back on subject of the wastegate.... i got a 45mm wastegate, whats the benifit or cons of that?

global warming is a myth back pressure is not. i hope all the master techs and regular techs at uti know what there teaching.... i would hate to hear my parents wasted 30gs for nothing.

you must be one of the types that believes somethings true because someone has a theory and it makes sense?

a engine can't scavenge without back pressure. learn about automotive theory before you say something isn't true that makes a engine work properly.
