I was wondering whether having your car run rich and have an open DP will cause flames to shoot out and hurt the underside of your car...Any comments are apreciated

 

theres a pretty tough coating on the underside on the car, I used to spit flames out everytime I let off the accelerator before my fuel decel values were changed.

it was dumping fuel after I let off the gas and would burn right out of the downpipe and I could see the flames shoot out since I havea little hole from the auto tranny that used to be there.

I didn't have any damage so I wouldn't worry about it. Just make sure nothing that will catch fire is by it. wires. etc

 

is running open downpipe reducing turbo lag ??

 

yea it will spool faster b/c of less restriction.

 

but it sounds like ***...

 

makes a civic/dsm sound like a dump-truck.. I like it !!

 

open downpipe sounds awesome IMO

N/A 4 cyl with open exhaust sound like **** though.
