i ran open downpipe for a few months because im poor, but it wasnt SO bad. though when my passenger tried talking to me it was pretty hard to hear. mostly because the radio has to be on like 40 out of 50 volume to hear anything. all sarcasm aside though it really wasnt as bad as some people make it seem. ive heard some really stupid sounding exhausts and i would rather have open DP than some of those.

i remember i was racing my friend and you could see his passenger covering his ears LOL. didnt sound that loud to me *shrugs*

for those of you who put an exhaust on, what are you running?

i got a 2.5 ordered right now.

not planning on putting a cat or resonator in there, should be fine enough with a muffler?

what do u all mean by open DP ? full exhaust with just no cat or muffler or just the DP goin straight to the ground? cause on my eclipse i ran it right out side of front bumper but i really dont wanna do that again. i already hollowed my cat out and im debating on removing muffler and putting just a straight pipe on it.

I ran open dp on my t25 sol...It was actually very nice, it wasnt loud at all, and there were no fumes...I guess it depends on alot of things. Take it off and see if you like it, if not, put it back on

any pics of this cutout valve? sounds like a good thing to have, you get the best of both worlds, quiete if u want it and loud/quicker spool when you need it. Are there kits available online? Thanks a lot!

I didn't really understand what you just said...

I kind of understood you trying generalize all makers of that product like that (not cool). It's like saying, all log manifolds are ****, the welds suck!

thing shoots flames back firing on decel...and when it gets up into 10+psi...the boost onset is so fast it just rips the tires off the car...picks up and floats making a whaaaaaaap!!! its fun tho to scare lil kiddies w/....and you def get looked at sittin at the light idling like a domestic....hehehe

other than that i have a manual cutout...just a plate...and i run around town w/ a stock gsr exh...its quite....real quite...and at 15lbs you can hear the exh being sqeezed out!...fun to shoot condesation too!

Well I have the DMHperformance.com cut out, but I cant get the electric butterfly to work, and Ive tried to contact them many times but with no luck. They have a 4 year warrenty one them, if that means anything. So Ive resorted to using the manual block off plate with 3 wing nuts, really annoying to say the least to have to crawl under the car and take em off, but it keeps me from getting on it around town, I have to hit 3rd gear to get full boost (1st and 2nd= hardcore wheelspin) and by the time your in 3rd your doing well over the posted limit. So its a good thing for me.

O yea, while Im in my car @ WOT it doesnt seem that loud ( I dunno what Im comparing to really, a V8 perhaps?) but people who race me on the left side (cut out pointed that way) tell me my car is wicked loud. People who race me on the right side tell me that all they can really hear is my turbo sucking in ALOT of air. lol

I think I am going to run straight pipe with no exhaust and see what happens. not sure its considered open DP. If i find it too loud, i can always take 5 mins and put a muffler on.

What is the main thing that determines what it will sound like with open downpipe? The turbo, mild steel, stainless steel or what? I'm going to run open downpipe on my b16 with a t3/t4 50 trim 63. ar and a 3" mild steel downpipe from spoolin.
