Only boosting like 2 psi
Hey guys, this seems like it should be easy to fix but I can't find it. I am only getting about 2 psi of boost on my new setup. I have a hybrid Garrett T25/ T3 hybrid turbo with an external wastegate. I Have my vacuum on the side port of the wastegate hooked to the outlet brass fittings on the turbo. I don't have anything hooked to the top port of the wastegate. I went on a test run today and when I came back in the driveway The hot side of the intercooler felt hot along with the charge piping, and the cold side felt cold. I checked all of my couplings and they felt secure. How can I tell if the wastegate isn't fully closed? The release port of the wastegate is vented to the atmosphere and I don't feel or see any gases coming out. 2 psi sucks *****!

if no exhaust is coming outta the wastegate, then it aint open..
u either got a leak or a fucked up turbo..
p.s. check your bov to make sure its sealing.

I have tried just leaving the wastegate unhooked completely and it didn't work. I just went and bought a new boost gauge because my old autometer was horribly inaccurate. I am actually boosting at 1psi, barely enough to make the check engine light come on. I have tightened down the adjustment srew on the blow off valve. How could I tell if the turbo has had it? I don't have any oil coming from it.

you should get TONS of boost that way. sounds like maybe you have a big boost leak?

I can't see where it would leak before the turbo. Unhooking the wastegate makes NO difference. Under acceleration, you can hear the turbo spool up and it sounds awesome but the gauge never reads above 1.5 psi and it feels that way as well!
pressure check your charge pipes man. same as your last thread. if pressure doesn't hold, spray some soapy water around the connections until you see bubbles. if no bubbles exist, your turbo is done.

but if its not in wont it let air past the valve?
dude, just check it, youve checked everything else.
take the wastegate off and look at the side that connects to the manifold. is it sealed, or is there a gap that you can see past

I said boost leak, meaning your charge pipes, not the hot side.

alright, just took the wastegate off and yes, the fire ring is there. it also takes a great deak of force to get the valve to open so I don't think my issue is coming from the wastegate. I am trying to figure out the best way to pressure test the charge piping. I though about buying some kind of flexible hosing that I can run from the turbo directly to the throttle body, ghetto but it should also tell me if its the turbo or charge piping.
