This is what I did. I think removing the Intake manifold is optional, but i took mine off.
Removed intake manifold (lines, hoses, sensors, etc etc)
Removed valve cover
Mark timing belt teeth on cam gears
Loosen timing belt tensioner bolt (located above the crank pulley)
slide T belt off cam gears.
Remove cam cap covers
Remove cams
Remove head bolts - You need to zig zag back and forth while taking off the bolts. This is so the bolts are removed evenly. THey are on hard as F*$# your gonna need a breaker bar and a pipe.
Remove upper radiator hose
Pop the head off
You will need a manual for the torque specs.

when u slide the timing belt off, keep tension on it and zip tie it to the motor mount so it doesnt skip around down below.
just makes putting it toghther easier.

1. Make sure you have a Helms or repair manual of some sort.
2. set crankpully to TDC marking.
3. disconnect hose/wires/etc. that are attached to head
4. unbolt the intake manifold support bracket.
5. remove timing belt off cam gears.
6. remove cams
7. unbolt head bolts as instructed in helms or any service manual.
8. remove head along with intake manifold attached.
9. change head gasket
10. install in reverse order.
