oiling system for SC34?
Ok so other than buying an oil pressure gauge, installing it, and seeing how can I go about finding out if I have 70psi or not on cold start and wot?
Also what is needed to supply the oil to the turbo?

I think the best approach is to use a -3 feed line with no restrictor on the journal bearing turbos. Then if you notice some oil pushing out then add a restrictor immediately. If you under oil the turbo you won't know there's something wrong until its too late. If you over oil it you'll notice it right away and you can remedy it by adding a restrictor.
I understand. But lately people have been doing just that as a rule of thumb and have been HORRIBLY wrong in these last 2-3 years. I agree, if there's no cause for alarm, there's no need to purchase one, IF they know what that pressure is and have tried the turbo out before hand. But its better to have one and not use it, then to need one, and not have one available.
80psi of pressure is really asking to have a .065" restrictor on most Garrett/Precision turbochargers. Borg-warners allow for a bit more pressure in the oil passages of their cartridges

I was told -3 no restrictor from Precision turbo themselves. I've been running my sc34 that way for over a year now and have not had any issues with it. It was previously on a friends car for over a year also with no restrictor and no issues. I don't have an oil pressure gauge hooked up so I don't know exactly what psi I'm at but it's not showing signs of leaking or smoke.

Again, as stated in MANY threads here. Going by what they say is optional, as they don't know your particular oil pressure. For every 5 that have done fine without a restrictor, there are 5 more that have had issues. It's not an effing standard thing.. I easily get 10-15 PM per week over this question. I always have the same answer, regardless of company. CHECK YOUR OIL PRESSURE WHEN MAKING A DECISION
Its a good idea to just buy the restrictor when you buy the oil feed kit. That way you have it and can just install it if needed.
I have customers that do this a lot. An extra $8 for the oil restrictor is good insurance for your turbo.

No problem. I hope I was able to help. I never get upset, just am a bit fatigued when others ask this question repeatedly. I'm just sooo surprised we don't have a "sticky" on this topic.

Trust me I know the feeling. Every time I see another thread about crankcase venting I just shake my head. It's been beaten to death on here over and over.
dont mean to jack this thread but i saw no point in making a new topic for a similiar question.
im running a b18c1 with an oil pressure sensor running off of a sandwich plate
im currently untuned on a base map running a precision 5431b and have only revved it to 4500..... This was the peak reading for partial throttle around those revvs.

This seems high right? should i buy a restrictor?

i ran an sc61 last year with the same set up and i didnt have any blue smoke or anything, but when i removed it i did notice a what seemed to be a slight residue when i shined a flashlight in the compressor housing.... is there a downside to running one just in case?
