i am doing a build up on my b16a2 motor...resleeving pistons/rods/custom crank/ballancing and blueprinting/ect.
but my question is... will a type-r oil pump and screen fit in the b16 motor that came with a 99-00 civic si?
and will that oil pump flow better than the stock oil pump? i plan or replacing the oil pump anyway but i was looking of an oem replacement that may give me just a little more oiling capabilities than stock, without going to a prodrive oil pump gear.(i have heard a few horror stories about them)
thanks

thanks for the advise!!
so you are saying don't go with the prodrive, stay with the oem pump?
b16a oilpump that is in your car is same exact as the type R... stick with a VTEC pump gsr/si/type r
the stock cast gear cannot be as strong as the prodrive. i mean if you have the money get it !!!

food for thought, we're running a 2 stage dry sump system with the stock pump still being used for the pumping... Stock pumps aren't as bad as people think they are. Oil pump problems usually stem from another problem elsewhere...

what oil pump gear in the stock pump??
what oil pump gear in the stock pump??
It seems like for the Prodrive (or Toda) to fail there would have to be an install problem- not clearancing the pump, not running a pulley damper, not getting the bottom end balanced, etc.
The circumstances surrounding any of these oil pump failures are just as important as the failure itself.

Viren and Tony, you guys never tried the Toda gears ? I use them all the time and really like it ... hell I boosted with them for 4 yrs using the undampened pulley ... although I got away with murder back then, I'm sure the stock would ahve caved durint that period. The toda material is very strong too and clearance ar always 100% within spec for the 20 or so I've installed in people's cars.
btw, I think spoon use those in their motors too ... they get them from Toda ... along with all the other stuff.
[ee] or maybe its different for you two crazy boys that boost a gazzillion psi boost on them motors ... hackers !!!
LOL
