Default Oil Pump issues...VTEC on a Non-VTEC Block

On Saturday when we put my motor on I had a GSR Oil pump installed on my B18B. We get everything ready then start moving sensors from the block we just pulled to the block I built.

Damn OIL pumps are completely different. The crank sensor wouldn't fit, the timing belt gear wouldn't fit.

So we reinstalled the LS oil pump off the motor we just pulled (23K miles).

Which is the right oil pump to install? One of them must work.

Should I just leave it alone, or find a VTEC pump that works?

How bout the PRO Drive gear? I remember a debate about those...what was the final resolution? PRO Drive or OEM? This motor is going to see a lot of boost.

I think all the B-series vtec oil pump (including the b20 oil pump) are the same with the '96 up having a sensor for the OBD2 ecu.

I installed a '95 Del sol vtec in my ls block w/o any problems. Good luck with your swap.

you should be able to use a vtec oil pump as well as water pump on the ls blcok but you also have to adjust the timing belt to which water pump you are using. but the gsr pump fits on the ls blocks. most of hte ls/vtec builds up use them

What about the sensor and the timing belt drive gear? Do I need an 00 GSR pump? I am not sure what year this one is.

I use one from a Type R and it doesn't have any sensor holes... It bolted right on. I use a LS timing belt as well.

That is the problem. I need sensor holes. Also I need the timing belt drive gear to fit.

Anyone make an aftermarket pump I could install with the oil cooler (haven't decided which one) I am gonna run?

Any thoughts on the stock pump gear?
