Default Oil pressure sensor

Is an oil pressure switch the same thing as an oil pressure sensor? I want to know because i put a custom kit on my friends accord. We are using fmu 12:1 and a msd inline fuel pump. It use to run good in the beginning, but now it is running lean and sputtering. B4 he wuz running a 8:1 fmu and we recently changed it to 12:1 this morning. same problem. So i check the fuel pump. It seemed kinda weak and the buzzing sound was faint. so since i got my drag kit last week, but didn't put it on yet i went home to get my airtex inline fuel pump and installed it. It sounded a little bit louder like it wuz working. So we took it for a drive and it was real better. runing real rich. but sometimes at the top of the gear it would lean out and begin to sputter again. I read the instructions that came with the airtex pump and it had:

NOTE: if the oil pressure switch is not good it can cause the fuel pump to malfunction.

So i want to know if the oil pressure sensor is what they are talking about?

I need some help, because we have no idea what is goin on now. i thought that the airtex inline pump + 12:1 fmu should keep it rich as hell all througout the gears. I mean that is what it does on my friends DRAG gsr. Any suggestions welcome...

The oil pressure switch isn't connected to anything other than a light on the dash...though, I understand VTEC is only switched on when oil pressure is above a certain point, though I think it's just a physical neccessity that a certain pressure is needed to switch lobes...the sender and the switch and the sensor should be the same thing. just the little bugger on the block (had to deal with it day before yesterday...)

Maybe it's the intank pump going out and the inline pump fighting it. Maybe you cannot get the fuel pressure you need because the intank is causing a pressure drop to the inline.

The oil pressure switch that lights up the oil light on the cluster
turns the light on when pressure drops below 3psi. otherwise its useless

the vtec oil pressure switch is different and is mounted on the vtec solenoid housing

No

sensor measures a range
switch = on/off

yes i did read it but i dont think that is what it is. do u think it is the way we wired the pump? we wired it using a relay and the power source wuz to the fuse for the stock fuel pump. so when the ignition is turned on (but car not started) the inline would come on for a few and then shut off. Should we have used a power source that stays on constantly when the ignition is turned on? That is how it is setup on my friends drag gsr and he doesn't have this problem. ill try it and see what happens.
