Just replaced Oil Pump, NO Oil Pressure!!! wtf? :(
Just got finished.... replacing the oil pump. No oil pressure. wtf?
Followed every step, torqued to every spec... i don't understand. It was a used oil pump housing however.
I was replacing the previous oil pump gear that shattered into a million pieces....
Any ideas?

sensor still functional, and autometer electric oil pressure hooked up right. the oil lights still on, and the gauge reads 0 psi
what a waste of a day...
the only thing i can thing of is the cranks not properly attached to the oil pump gear, but i was so sure we connected that right.

hrmm.. must be a bad pump then? you could take the plugs out, and crank it over several times and remove the oil filler cap and watch and see if oil flows to the head after a few seconds of cranking, if the old pump shattered into a million peices, maybe a few peices of it are stuck in the pressure side of the blocks oiling passages?

yeah, the clearances were all well within spec
when the motor was built originaly, it was rebuilt with a brand new US OEM pump housing/gear.(it is a JDM block), but when I replaced it, I used a JDM oil pump housing/gear.
I also purchased a pro-drive oil pump gear, but could not use it, because the US & JDM housings and gears are different size.
so this week,, i'm going to get a new US oil pump housing, and install the pro-drive oil pump gear.
is there any drawbacks to using a US Oil pump in a jdm block?

Re: Just replaced Oil Pump, NO Oil Pressure!!! wtf? :( (25 PSI CRX)
I have a feeling your bore wasn;t done correctly. If your bore is out of whack and requires line bore, it's extremely harder for the crank to turn with the pistons and rods conencted since you don;t have a perfect "track" for the piston to go up and down. Another cause of it maybe the main caps are out of line and requires a line hone on the main cap.
Those two things may have contributed to the difficulty for your crank to turn to the point of FORCING the crank to turn and what happen at that time, you spun your bearings and your oil pump doesn't get turned easily and was forced to turn out of misaligned crank placement.
It's kinda unlikey for you to shatter 2 oil pump in a row and only a bad string of luck will prolly do that.
good luck dude, let me know if I can be any helps.

you don't think it could be something as simple as just running the civic type r crank pulley on the gsr block?
i don't know, but there were problems even before the ctr pulley, the stock GSR just flew off one night. 2 weeks after i got it back from import builders...
jeff refuses to believe anything is wrong with the block.

Main bearings excessively worn ? Gap to big ?
Did your second oil pump fail as well ?

the first pump failed, the gear was in 25 pieces.
the second pump failed, the gear was in 10 pieces.
the third pump we just installed, apparently not working.
anyone have any experience running a Civic Type R Crank Pulley on a turbo GSR block? Do you think that could've contributed to the problem?

hrmm, i wonder if there is something else wrong not conntected to the oil pump itself but ratehr something like a slightly blocked oil passage? or the oil filter could be bad not allowing flow. What about the oil pickup? was it installed correcty? is your oil pan bend at all? maybe it is bend against the pickup and causing it not to be able to suck oil? Maybe instead of running used pumps use a new one? for the cost of $100+ shipping you coudl have gotten a brand new Honda Type-r pump inthe first place. Something to think about.
good luck either way.
good luck either way.
