Oil pan tapping help

i have my oil pan tap on the left side of the oil pan before it goes into the big slot with a pipe coming out of it..is it ok if i tap it there?

Huh? A picture might help. As long as you got a negative slope on your oil return line coming into your pan, it should be fine. Also, make sure that your tap is above the normal oil level.
