Oil pan removal with 3" downpipe
Im trying to get my oil pan off but my downpipe is too big and it wont slide down. Ive got all the bolts off and I even pulled out all the studs but it wont slide forward. It is just resting on the downpipe. I dont want to remove the downpipe because its a bitch to take on and off. Has anyone had any luck taking off their oil pan while leaving their 3" downpipe still on? Or is there something from the bottom end that might be hitting the oil pan as i pull it forward, like the pickup?

well in order for my to take off the downpipe i gotta take off the turbo as well and its all just a pain in the *** to remove, i was hoping to do this without taking off the downpipe. This is on a 94 integra btw.

sounds like your totally lazy. loosen some downpipe bolts. take off the bolts where the exhaust meets the downpipe and you should be able to move it around a bit and get off the pan.

yup! You deffinately have to remove the DP.
I Tried to get away with leaving the downpipe on, as it is a bitch to get back on. But no Dice. Oil Pan would not come off.
And the reason it wont come off, is because your Oil Pick up hangs down almost 1/2 way into the pan. so even if the Pan is resting on the downpipe, you still need the DP to pull down another 1.5" or so.
What I did, was I just took the downpipe bolts off the turbo, and let the downpipe connected to the exhaust, with my flexpipe it allowed me to bend the downpipe far enough to get the oil pan under the oil pick up and slide it out.
Best of luck!

Re: (Archidictus)
Ive got the Neukin ramhorn mani and 3" downpipe that is AC compatible. The way the downpipe bolts up to the turbo and the way the turbo bolts up to the manifold, i need to remove the manifold, turbo and downpipe all as one piece. This has got to weigh close to 75 lbs. Theres just no way to get a wrench around the back 2 bolts that bolt the downpipe to the turbo.

Hey if you don't want to take the downpipe off then just saw off the downpipe portion you need to get the oil pan off THEN REWELD that Downpipe right back up! Simple as that and you don't have to take the dp and turbo off either lol!!!

Re: (mustafa)
Yeah i just manned up and took the whole thing off, it wasnt as hard as I remembered from when I first installed the turbo but its definatly a 2 person job to safely lower the manifold/turbo/downpipe. Finally got the pan off.
