Oil leaking from the Turbo
Ok I have a 94 Civic with the greddy turbo kit boosting 11 psi and i started to notice that the turbo was leaking oil from the inlet side of the turbo. I took the charge pipe off the turbo and there is oil in there too. I know that it is not my piston rings or anything because i did a compression test and it is fine 180. Is it leaking oil from in the turbo and do i even need to do a rebuild? Also what turbo is the greddy kit for a 92-95 civic vtec? 14b?16g? It says TD04H on the housing.Anyway i took the turbo off all the way and took it completely apart for a rebuild, but i havent got my rebuild kit yet. This is the website for the rebuild http://www.vfaq.com/mods/Turbo-rebuild.html I thought the turbo was a 16g but on the website it says that the back of the 16g compresser wheel is tapered and mine is flat like the 14b. PLEASE HELP!!!!
Yours in not the 16, i think it is the 14b, maybe it's 15-somthing. That sounds about right... The 16g is the one all the eclipse guys upgrade to so I KNOW that's not it. You could have probably gotten away w/o a rebuild, but it really depends on how bad it is. If it's significant, then you need to do it. I *think* those directions will work for your turbo to. I hope you marked the wheel alignment... balance is important!
Good luck!
Good luck!
It was leaking really bad...it leaked all my oil out in 1 day. Oh and i did mark it so i can get it aligned right too. I bought the turbo off a friend that bought it new and only had it for a year. I just wouldn't think that it would be time for a rebuild. Any one else have any input?
