oil leak...

oil leak...
I'm using earls fittings and there is a minor oil leak on the thread of my oil return line from the oil pan. I try to retighten the fittings and it still leak... will wrapping the tread with teflon tape before tightening it up help? Any other suggestions?

Yeah, thats what I'm talking about... What bothers me is it stain my garage floor....
So do you think teflon will work?

Well, my oil return is an AN fitting and you cannot effectively use teflon tape on AN fittings. The threads are not supposed to be exposed to any fluid... AN fittings seal by compression of the inner flange only.
I have REALLY tightened mine to the point I thought it was going to snap, and it would still slowly leak a drop or so.
I never see any drip on the ground, but if I wipe it off it will be back in a week or two.
