yup, my first turbo came with bad seals and i had oil all in the i/c and piping...no smoking either. You will only smoke if the seals on the exhaust side are bad and it lets oil into the downpipe. I would get it fixed asap though since you run a much higher risk of detonation with oil in the combustion chamber.

No, there's not supposed to be any oil in the charge pipes, they should be dry... if there is any oil in them then the compressor seal is worn and leaking oil.
My compressor seal started leaking oil 6 months after I put the turbo on my car. There was no smoke or anything but when I took the lower charge pipes off there was oil all over them. Then I took my intercooler off and there was tons of oil in it.
There was also oil spewing out of my BOV when it would shift, which means the oil was getting all the way up into my intake manifold.
So, I did a semi-rebuild. I bought a turbo rebuild kit, took it apart and cleaned all the parts. Then used a new compressor seal and a few other new parts and put it all back together. I made sure to mark the compressor wheel in relation to the nut and turbine shaft so as to maintain the original balance.
Threw it back on my car and it's been boosting perfectly since then.
Oh, when I took my turbo apart, I found that it was MISSING an o-ring which was part of the compressor seal. I assume that was the problem, I bought the turbo from a place that is known for poor rebuilds.
Anyways, good luck getting it rebuilt or doing it yourself.
