oh Dninja fellas help me choose my boost level!!!!!
i have a rebuilt d16z6 with:
stock pistons and rods
arp head and connecting rod bolts
stock headgasket
4k miles on rebild
act hd/ss clutch
t3 externally wastegated turbo .42 turbine .48 compressor (not 100% sure)
walbro 255lph pump
dsm 450 injetors
1 step colder plugs
beerbongskickass uberdata file with conservative timing
Do you think 12 psi is too much, I will be running 93 octane plus 1 bottle of N20 brand octane booster per tank
if I use my buddies wideband to tune will this work
I just spent 1 year building this up and really cant afford a new motor untill feb, when I will get a fully built 20 over bore sohc
and should I expect over 200 whp?

I would convert my 1.65 re-pack 3 maps over to 1.66. Just import the maps directly over and it should give you a decent basemap to start tuning from. I think 12 psi would be fine if it's tuned well.

that octane booster doesnt do **** . and ive seen people run more boost forever , but every motor is different. personally id keep it at 10 lbs . run the 93 and get it tuned well.

i thought it wouldnt hurt to increase the octane to 100
anyways anyone ever think of water injection into the intake mani (or throttle body charge pipe?)
I have talked to tractor drag pullers around my area that run 120psi on their engines and say water injection cools the piston temps alot!

yea dont run that octance booster
doesnt work for ****
i onced used it on my N/A aplication and made my car run like **** and sluggish.. i used all the gas down to empty and once i filled it up and ran a few miles i got the power back
SUCKS
i say just run no more than 10psi or the rods will let go

Re: (USDM 4G VTEC)
i was hoping for 12 pounds cause the the uberdata tuning would allow me better control over detonation
or are you saying that the rods just wont handle that kind of hp?

2.5 inch intercooler piping will be fine, that's what I am running. I think with your t3 .42/.48 turbo your car will handle 12 psi just fine with good tuning. The same guy that tunes my car had a friend running 14 psi (big 18g turbo) on a stock ZC for a while and his rods held up. I have been running 10 psi with a bigger turbo than you have for a while now, I also plan on running more boost at the track. 92 or 93 octane should be fine also.

Re: (beerbongskickass)
your hp levels are really good, i was hoping to suceed them with more boost and some wide band tuning. I really dont know how much less power I will make with the smaller turbo but maybe I will have a broader power band to make up for the loss in peak hp

What do you mean your fuel maps switch? The vacuum and boost columns numbers at the top are a little different in the 1.66 version, but it shouldn't matter that much, I didn't notice too much difference. You sure it's running lean? It should actually be running a little richer at WOT if anything because all the boost columns are beignn used.

what is the benifit of using 1.7 over the 1.66 that you already have set up?
aside from fuel and timing changes
1.66 has full throttle launch, and boost cutoff right?
thats kind of all I need

Re: (D15B7turbo)
i wish I could have afforded to build the motor with rods and pistons........do you guys think the arp conneting rod bolts will help at all with increasing the threshold of power I could make.
