Default OBX LSD - need shim!

So I'm doing a whole OBX write-up, but I can't get to the installation part because I need a shim aka B18 oil control ring.

Does anyone have some used B18 pistons lying around that is willing pull off a single oil side rail and ship it to me? It doesn't really matter if it's new/used, it's just being used as a shim.

Thread is here: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1752849

Help me finish!

why not use the OEM shim in the tranny........you simply need to grind it down a little to make it fit.............it should take you no longer than 5min

It's supposed to be 1.0 mm right?

keep grinding the shim down until you get the proper clearence between the case half and the diff bearing. you can install the diff without all the other internals and just do a bunch of test fits before doing the final assembly.

1.0mm sounds about right i guess but its better to be sure.....every diff/case/shim will be diffrent.

Yeah, I was just trying to be lazy. Rechecking the clearance a bunch of times doesn't sound fun.

An oil control ring offers nowhere near the surface area that a differential shim provides. Is there something wrong with the OEM Honda shim selection?

Yeah, and a diff banging around inside the case, leading to a cracked case or worse sounds fun.

with the obx lsd, honda does not make a shim small enough to fit in between the housing and the diff
