OBX LSD install
I did mine myself. it was my first time. not to hard to do. all I bought was two new bearings which was 10 bucks a piece at a local bearing shop. all other stuff was reused. shim was old one grinded down to fit. honda didn't have the right size i needed. lsd been working great for over a year now. there was a post on here that has detailed instructions on how to install lsd

the pics dont work.
the pics dont work.
I would say bearings and shim. old speed gear can be used, just heat it with a propane torch and it pulls right off. seals can be bought from local auto parts store if needed. the thing is that you won't know what size shim you need until you actually put the differential back in and bolt everything down. bearings can be reused but I didn't want to take the chance of not having a bearing if it was damaged during removal from old differential. my 2 cents
Download the factory manual and you will see what everything is and how it works. It is pretty self explanatory.I just finished installing a OBX diff and Honda trannies are pretty easy to work on if its your first time.
shim is the thin snap ring that goes between the differential bearing and the tranny case. on the tranny case there is a big snap ring. thats the shim. even though the pics don't work in the link above, it still has good info on how to do it. #4 in the link is where the shim info is

cool thanks bro.. damn those are expensive haha.
im guessing you use a feeler guage to determine the shim you need?
and whats this i hear about people using a bseries oil control ring for the shim? what is that?
EDIT: btw the auto parts stores have the diff. bearings for way cheaper.. would those be fine or is this something i should stick with OEM?

you got BALL BEARINGS or the tapered roller bearings? You want the ball bearings.
stock cylinder bore is 81mm. I believe the shim used for differential is also 81mm. So you COULD use an oil control ring for the shim (other people have done it) but if the clearance isn't right, you have to invest in a shim anyway.
