Default o2 sensor enabling question?

ok so this is kinda weird. i went to hook my my narrow band 02 sensor today because i was running it in closed loop all the time, but im not tuning it anymore so thats why i decided to enable it again. so i did this in crome and switched my wires back at the ecu so that my wideband was no longer giving the ecu a signal for datalogging. anyways i just wanted to check if my o2 sensor was working so i unplugged the white wire from the ecu and started up the car. i didnt get an engine code so then i went back to the map and checked to see if the narrow band was enabled. well it was and i have been driving around trying to get my 02 sensor check engine light to come on but i cant. any ideas? i just want to get it working

usually the light will come on immediately from the heater not the sensor. (if i remember) plus, closed loop is when the o2 is used, if you have open loop enabled, it isnt going off of the o2.

ok so your saying if the white wire is cut then that wont throw a code, it will just run off the map? id like to use the narrow band so that i get better fuel economy. ya your right, always get the open/closed loop mixed up.

it may not throw it immediately. but sooner or later throw a rich/lean code.

ok, ill just leave it plugged in. once i plug in the o2sensor, white wire, i need to unplug the wideband signal from the sending unit to the ecu for data logging correct?

yup. 02 sensor takes a while to throw the code

o2 heater throws it instantly
