Default O2 Sensor in Downpipe???

I was wondering if I need the O2 sensor or not.

I have a B18C T3/T4 turbo '89 CRX running Hondata Stage 2B on a PR3 ECU (ODB-0). Maximum boost ~ 6 psi.

The downpipe cracked and I had a new one made, only with no bung for the O2 sensor (one can easily be welded on).

The only downside is my A/F gauge is worthless now.

I am getting no ECU error codes, however, no O2 sensor just doesn't strike me as a super idea. Plus, running without the A/F gauge, as it used the voltage from the O2 sensor, makes me a little nervous. Any comments? Thanks.

Also, any explanations on why the car runs perfectly fine without the O2 sensor?
