Default NX Bottle explosion?

I was researching NX and came across this...

Apparently their blown down tube failed and their 15lb bottle blew. Scary... Has anyone ever heard of this happening. Sorry if its a repost.

I remember seeing that several years ago. I think he left his bottle heater on and there was no pressure release on it and that's what happened. I'm not sure though.

Apparently he wasnt in the car when it happened. Damn lucky. How high do you think it would have to be to cause that?

if I can remember the story correctly, I think his heater was straight wired into a 12v source, no thermostat.

I remember a bit of this story way back too. He blamed NX and I think NX said he didnt't put the safety parts or install everything correctly. I saw some of the other pics to, where parts went through the garage door I think.

Yeah I read the page a while back, the bottle heater stayed on while he was inside and the rest was history. Holes in the walls and cieling and stuff as I remember.

from what i can rememeber about it(its about 3 years old),the car was parked in the garage, and blew up,sent the trunk lid through the garage door.

the heater on the bottle was left on,and the burst disk did not work like it was designed too.

That is what I remember also. Basicly the idiot device didn't work and the idiot wants someone to pay for the damages. Kinda like leaving a stove on and when the house burns down blaming the fire department.

I remember something about him doubling up on the burst disk...using 2 3000 psi disks stacked up (bottles are rated at ~5000psi)

Just to clarify bottles dont just BLOW up. The purpose of a blow down tube is to have any released gasses directed out of the car. If your bottle pressure is to get 1400 psi or greater...enough to cause the saftey release valve to open then the ntrous just escapes..there has to be something there to ignite it for it to BLOW up like that...electrical problem or something of sorts

Yes, cause we all know its flamable... Do any of you actually know what you are talking about or do you just blurt out random ****?

Direct from Holley, the manufactures of NOS.

Q: Is nitrous oxide flammable?
A: No. Nitrous Oxide by itself is non-flammable. However, the oxygen present in nitrous oxide causes combustion of fuel to take place more rapidly.

The bottle in question did not blow up, it popped from too much pressure. Kind of like when you are inflating a balloon and you put to much air in and it pops in your face.
