Re: (prestoizm)
not lacking oil at all, just ridiculous high engine load at that rpm and boost level.
it left 2 nice holes in the front of the block, one of them "I" shaped like the cross section of the rod. the rod was poking through until i was poking it and it fell back into the engine.

but couldnt detonation with too much timing have caused too much stress on the rods w/o cracking the ring lands first? how would you keep this from happening again, other than 5th gear pulls?

its kind of common consensus that the b7 will only take up to around 200whp before the rods just let go...
at 10psi he was probably getting close for quite some time at that speed
still.. its a bummer

Re: (vaporboy12)
I paid $40 for that engine, a hydro tranny, and engine wiring harness from a 93 civic. thats why im not mad.
But i am upset because my car sat since last august until i got it running and drove it for a week, then i only had my turbo on for less than 24 hours. Although I did walk my friends modded supercharged vw g60 corrado.
I think I'm gonna stop doing top gear pulls/top speed runs
and yes, i had stock rods

hehe, yeah, I think thats where the majority of honda blown motors come from.
bummer though, cuz those runs sure are FUN!!
probly bets to see where it starts to top out and just leave it at that.

Re: Now this is a blown motor! (DJ0820)
Oh please.. Thats nothing.. ..
My d15b7 did almost the same thing.. Except the hole in my block was alot bigger and there was also a hole straight through to the back of the block..
On my motor it ripped the wrist pin out of the pistons but the rod was broken in half and not in pieces like yours is..
