Default noob stroker/turbo question

http://www.crower.com/cat/impo...shtml

the b16a bore/stroked to 2.12L

wondering if there would be huge complications in turboing on top of such an agressive stroker kit.

i searched this but every way i searched it returned far too many results to sift through...

anybody??

i know of course ill have to get new sleves and what nots...

it just seems like seriously torturing the engne to increase the displacement by more than half a liter AND apply boost to it!!

am i underestimating the strength of the b16 block??

There were a bunch of threads about that guy who used to make a stroker kit like that for B16's. Lots of problems because he had to move the wrist pin up so close to the top of the pistons with all the extra side load that the new geometry produced, much smoking and hatred. Personally I like a B16 as a boosted motor, that tiny little crank makes for a very rev-happy and durable motor. I'm in the process of building one now. My last one easily made over 400 WHP daily driven and lasted for years. Last I heard it was still running strong in the car of the guy that I sold it to. B16 crank FTW!

yea, if it does require 87mm bore then i wouldnt boost it. why wouldnt you just do like an 83mm bore with an ls crank? or what daniels said about a boosted b16..? ive seen 86mm on darton mids and the walls are so damn thin.
at 87mm, i would be more worried about the sleeve strength rather than the b16 because sleeved out like that and its not really a b16 anymore.
why are you wanting to stroke it so much?

with a bore that big i'd be worried about trying to seal a headgasket

if you want more displacement, sleeve and overbore instead of stroking.

I am running a b16 block with the eagle stroker kit, workd out to be about a 2.0 with 84mm sleeves. I have not got it finished yet but I am looking for 600+ out of her.

Best setup hands down is a GSR block sleeved to 84mm. I used a GSR block and LS crank and If i where to do it again it would go with the GSR to help out rod stroke, if i had GSR R/S i would not be afraid to rev to 10,000.

With the 87mm they (Darton at least) spread the bore centers slightly. They also eliminate the o-ring grooves in the bottom of the sleeves.Definitely not boost material.
