nitrous vs. turbo
hey i searched for this and didn't have any luck so please don't flame me if i missed something..
anyways to my question...
suppose one was to drive a Honda for everyday driving: school, groceries, etc. Wants the car(engine) to last for a decent amount of time but still wants decent times down the quarter mile....which would b the best way to go? turbo or nitrous?
like a nitrous system and getting some performance internals, a lil weight reduction, etc, and b able to use the nitrous only when wanting to race...??
or go with forced induction?
which would b better for the longevitity of the engine..??
thanks i would really appreciate any help...

go turbo ! (btw i have a complete setup forsale see sig
)
you never have to get it filled, and you wont have any stupid excuses for the guy when you lost a race... such as "my bottle wasnt turned on" or my bottle was empty

I ran nitrous for years and loved it. Plus I was NEVER beat on the street by a turbo fwd. Nitrous works well when set up right and you dont abuse it. I actually like the spray better for a daily driver. When you have a turbo car you seem to be on it all the time....

i've ran both and the turbo is better. you'll always want more power, and the bottle only last so long. i was runing 200hp shot and two runs later needed another bottle. that got really expensive. for the price nos is a cheap way to go untill you want more power. good luck
I like turbo better. Nitrous has to be tuned RIGHT. Well, any form of forced induction has to be, but IMO, more so for spray. It's like throwing sticks of dymanite into your combustion chambers.
i have run just about everything there is to run. When I was working at collective racing in tucson, az i was mostly all motor for awhile and then went to nitrous. I kept that for a couple of years and now went to turbo. I will tell you that i would not go any other was besides a turbo, or maybe a little of both
. You have to be very carefull with both, but nitrous seemed to be more of a problem than it was worth. Turbo

It really matters the commitment you have towards taking care of your car, and doing it right.
If you half *** ethier of them, your motor will go. There isn't a question about it.
Nitrous setups get half assed by more people because of the lower initial cost to put a weak setup together.
A decent direct port kit, with good nozzles, well tuned jetts, and a smart tuner with good experience with the certain EMS, you'll do very well. The problem really is finding that right person. There is FAR more money in tuning turbo cars. And too many people think you just jett the nitrous, and fuel, and hose the motor down. Timing needs to be pulled, along with fuel adjustment..just like a turbo car.
All I have to say is...Look at some of the IHRA nitrous car setups, they have a good idea of what works well for nitrous.

My advise to you is for you to forget the phrases street car and fast daily driver. Get another car, and make it fast, and keep another car that you depend on in order to get you back and forth while the hotrod is broke down. You'll like it this way once you do it. However, you'll dread having to limp a broken hotrod to work everyday hoping you won't get fired. Don't depend on a hotrod. We've all been there and have seen it for ourselves. GET A SECOND CAR FOR HOTRODDING. TAKE CARE OF YOUR DAILY DRIVER, AND LEAVE IT STOCK.
Like I said, this is my advise to you. You can take it if you want to and vise versa. Good luck with which ever decision you end up making.
