Default Nitrous Express Ntercooler- How does it work?

This is the description of the product from the NX site:

"For supercharged or turbo applications where nitrous is not an option, NX offers another alternative, the N-tercooler. Using either nitrous or CO2 this unit can reduce air inlet temperatures dramatically. In a recent dyno test, a turbocharged Honda, equipped with an NX N-tercooler, increased its baseline by an astounding 52 horsepower! If it makes horsepower, it must be Nitrous Express!"

That doesn't tell me how the N-tercooler works though, so I was wondering if someone could explain it to me.

I did a search, and I came across a thread where a kid was complaining about the system killing his car at WOT. I don't think the car was turbo/supercharged, and therefore coudln't have had an intercooler, so am I correct in assuming that you don't need an intercooler to use the N-tercooler?

Thanks for any help.

ricer right there..

it cools the air going through the intercooler more by using nitrous oxide instead of outside air. cooler air=more dense air

It works. I lost more traction with it.
